Carondelet Leadership Academy Wins Highly Competitive State Technology Grant
Carondelet Leadership Academy was one of only seven Missouri districts and charter schools awarded the Title II.D Competitive Technology Grant through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for our Technology Enhanced Real Time Learning Project.
This grant, worth $82,057, will provide around 102 fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students with an iPad, keyboard, and educational software for use during the school year and summer. With the use of iPads, and our school’s wireless instructional space, our teachers will increase instructional/academic time up to three extra hours per school day and three hours on Saturday.
Through the Technology Enhanced Real Time Learning Project we look forward to the gains our students will make in reading and mathematics by participating in a real-world school service project. This project is designed to build school community, increase student test scores, and increase each teacher’s assessment driven teaching.
Carondelet will be collaborating with student teachers from Missouri Baptist University to increase student/teacher interaction by over 50 percent as each student group interacts with not one, but two teachers. This project will also decrease the student/teacher ratio from 20 students per teacher to eight students per teacher.
Missouri Baptist University will play an integral evaluative role in our project. The University will review monthly goals and formative assessments as we update students, staff, and other teachers statewide of our progress through the Common Core Formative Assessment website. We are excited about all the educational opportunities that await our students as a result of this Competitive Technology Grant.
